About Us
In 2003, after being heavily involved with a homegroup, a handful of alcoholics had a desire for something that was hard to find in the Antelope Valley – a book study that dig deep into the text and discussed experience with what was read. Following the advice of “build the fellowship you crave” these few men began to meet once a week in a living room to have a Big Book study. They got into the book and their experience with it, looking up words in a 1929 dictionary to know what Bill meant by things. As word got out, more and more people began to attend, and outgrowing 3 living rooms, they registered the meeting with NY and found a home at St. Stephens in Palmdale.
As the group began to grow, and meetings were added, they never lost sight of what was important; literature-based meetings. After time at St Stephens and at Crazy Ottos in Palmdale, the group settled into a location in east Palmdale for many years. As the time in Palmdale came to a close, they moved to Lancaster. After a succession of temporary locations, HDBBG has landed at our current home – Center for Spiritual Living. We have three meetings per week, all literature based.
We are a group based in the book, steeped in the traditions, and focused on sponsorship. Are you in need of help? We are here for you. Are you sober but looking for a new experience? Come join us.
